The preschool/pre-k program is available for children ages three to five years during which time they engage in activities to prepare them for Kindergarten. There are three preschool/pre-k age classrooms, either single age rooms or multi age rooms. Both choices offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on themes for this age level. We use the Creative Curriculum and align lesson plans to meet the Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS).
The daily schedule consists of: indoor and outdoor play, breakfast, group time, lunch, stories, music, drama, art and computer time as well as field trips and special events. Children also learn skills such as listening in a group, participating in group discussions, problem solving with peers and adults, and many self help skills.
Happy Days has a formal collaborative agreement with local school systems. Children may receive early intervention, speech and language, occupational therapy and other services at Happy Days.
